Villa Lemonia is a property which has been restored to an excellent standard on Hydra island, Greece. It used to belong to a wealthy captain originally built in 1883. In the late 1980s, the complete building was destroyed by fire. The present owners, using traditional materials restored the whole property.
It is a good sized house and is only 400 meters from the port of Hydra with no steps to consider – a blessing for some! Being set back from the main port, the area is exceptionally peaceful.
The ground floor consists of a hallway with lovely wooden ceilings made with small sticks held in the traditional way by larger wooden beams. The floors are of quality marble. To the left is an open area, at present used for ironing and linen. However it could be a small office area/library.
Off this are two bedrooms each with two single beds. A large bathroom with shower is next.
From the hallway, up a few steps is another semi level which towards the back has another double bedroom with en-suite bathroom. Features such as original rock have been left for decor.
Up the main staircase to the first floor is the large living room/dining area. It has an open built in wood burning fireplace centrally positioned. All done out with wooden floors. Double doors open onto the terrace.
Towards the back is another double bedroom with en-suite bathroom.
To the left is a separate kitchen all fitted and has every convenience needed for comfortable living. There is also a door leading out onto the main terrace.
The upstairs terrace is large and has ample space for seating many. Shaded in part by a pergola. There are also stone steps leading down to the ground courtyard. Here is a store room (apothiki) and a separate laundry room. The courtyard continues and has direct access to the front of the house.
Villa Lemonia is a supreme house and ready to move into with the turn of a key.
